Reuters reported on Monday that during the attack, North Korean Hwasong-11 ballistic missiles were utilized—a flagrant violation of the embargo on arms deliveries from the DPRK.

In early April, three UN observers specializing in North Korean sanctions conducted a thorough examination in Ukraine, focusing on the remnants of the rocket used in the Kharkiv assault.

The investigation yielded a surprising revelation: the rocket bore the unmistakable signature of a North Korean Hwasong-11 ballistic missile, first publicly tested in Pyongyang in 2019. This finding contradicts previous assertions that the missile was of Russian origin.

The United States had previously accused Russia, on multiple occasions during a UN Security Council session in February, of deploying ballistic missiles supplied by the DPRK to attack Ukraine.

North Korea has been the subject of UN sanctions since 2006 due to its ballistic missile and nuclear programs, progressively tightened over the years.
